United-Kingdom: 5 minutes to understand migrants’ expulsions to Rwanda

William JULIÉ explains that the European Court of Human Rights prevented the United Kingdom from expulsing illegal migrants, therefore making it impossible to carry out an agreement between the UK and Rwanda allowing all asylum seekers in an irregular situation to be sent to Rwanda. This is however only a conservatory measure, and the British courts now have to decide on the legality of the bill. If the bill is found to be compliant, then the ECtHR will have to find other grounds to limit these extraditions, based on human rights.
